Season by season
Cool & dry season
November to February is the most comfortable time, with lower humidity, little rain and mornings that can feel almost fresh in December and January. It is also high season, so book popular tours and riverside hotels ahead.
Hot season
March to May is the hot season, with afternoon temperatures often above 35°C and warm nights. Plan active tours for early morning or evening. Songkran, the Thai New Year water festival, falls in mid-April.
Rainy season & sea conditions
The rains run from about June to October. Showers are usually heavy but short, most often in the late afternoon, and September and October bring the most rain and occasional street flooding. Tours run as normal, hotel prices are lower and the city is greener.

Our advice
If your dates are flexible, come between mid-November and early February. In any month, book bike tours for the earliest slot and keep the hottest hours for air-conditioned museums, malls or a break at your hotel.
